We celebrated New Year’s Eve together with Aïssa, my childhood friend, who came over for dinner and game. We had fun! Aïssa is such an amazing person: warm and generous. She adds to much to the company and I was so happy to see her and Anette interacting so much, despite not being to speak [...]

After having visited the market, we headed out to the infamous century old Baobab forest - another of my top 20 Niger places.
The perfect place for a picnic, where you can lie in the shade and watch the people pass by… It was wonderful!
And it all ended with a photo shoot of the two Scandinavian [...]

Just wanted to let you know…
… that we love the spirit in our garden! Swings are not only for children, in case you wondered! And as we have one in our garden, we are pleased to see it being used by all sorts of people - mostly grownups!

We had planned this weekend to take Haruna to the race track, but when Saturday arrived, the races had been moved to Dogo. Seeing we were up for a little adventure, we decided to hit the roads (and what bad roads it was!) and go to Dogo and show Haruna some of the typical Nigerien [...]

In Sweden, Christmas Eve is the big Christmas day. Hence Christmas Day must be for recovering after Christmas Eve. We sure took it easy, eating fruits as a contrast to the heavy stuff we had last night. And chilled for half a day, which was grand considering the tempo we’ve had lately.
But hey, by the [...]

Today, we went to the market and came back with a whole lot of different fabrics. You’d be amazed at how fast you wear clothes out (you wash them more often here due to the dust and the heat) and Anette was starting to run out of clothes. Hence, she needed a new wardrobe, [...]

So it was time for Tabaski again, and although we had a lot of work to do, we took the afternoon off and went socializing; the Nigerien way to celebrate.
Then Aïssa’s brother made tea à la Nigerienne, which is always a favourite.
Although there are two major celebrations in Niger, Tabaski - also known as [...]

Our horses have separation anxiety. They have only known each other for a year, but from the first week, Sahara has gone nuts whenever Arwen is away.
The big change this year is that Arwen now reacts with equal frustration. The disadvantages are (obviously) many, but there are surprisingly many perks as well. For instance, when [...]
