Today is the Journée de la concorde, national holiday in Niger, and there will be great races at the track. I’m won’t be able to participate as I am going to field station this afternoon (and Ali won’t be able to participate either because he has a souna!), but I did go on Saturday and took picture of the warm ups…
There are horses from all over the country stationed in Zinder right now, and the festivities are expected to go on for two weeks and I plan to go to the track in the weekend. So don’t worry, you’ll get to see plenty of Nigerien horse racing from the Zinder track!

All this you are writing reminds me of my trip to Niger and especially Niger’s nationalday. All the camels and horses. Two weeks, that’s a very long time… Hope you enjoy it. I’m sure you will!
I really enjoy reading your blog. It’s so interesting and it reminds me of Niger and how much I want to go back. I read your blog, but I do not always have the time to write you a comment. Perhaps I can write down a mail or something quite soon…
