The latest Ishtar’s ark member (a semi-resident…) is turning out to be a huge favorite of my little niece Tabita. She doesn’t have a name yet, because although my sister suggested she’d be named ‘Katika’ like the kitten we once had in Tunisia ages ago, Tabita however insists on calling her “Katten Jansson” (a Swedish thing…), because as Tabita puts it, “That is her name.” In want of a name however, the little abandoned kitten makes no secret of what she thinks, feels or desires in life and I also thought it was fun to see her intuitive interest in the camera! Makes me wonder if cats assume they’re born to be in the spotlight…? No wonder Dennis is fuming right now!
“I’d really like some milk right now. Yes, that’s exactly what I’m thinking of now when I look deep into your eyes.”
“I’m glad you’re such an intelligent human being.”
“Mmm, that was very good. I would fancy some tomorrow too.”
“What, did someone just poke me in the eye…? That’s mean! I’m a very small kitten.”
“But if you insist on fighting me, this is what I’ll look like.”
“And by the way, when I grow up, I want to be a tiger. Think I’ve got what it takes?”

he looks great and definitely has got some potential for a tiger
So cute! Can you pat it or does it have lice and stuff?
@Suzanne: I agree, great eyeliners! And I think she knows it too…
@O: You should see her show off her hunting talents… She means business!
@Hanna: No lice or ticks on this particular kitten, so that’s good. No wounds either. She just started letting herself be picked up a few days ago, so in short, I have a bath planned for her… Of course she doesn’t know that, yet.
I’ll bet that kitten is practicing her “I want to live in your house and sleep on your bed” expression every time you walk away from her. She’s a cutie!
[…] asked in Nefertiti’s last post if it was possible to pick her up, and yes, it […]
@Victoria: You are so right! This little kitten knows EXACTLY how to make us follow her cue - all she has to do is charm her way and look very vulnerable indeed… A born actress, she is! She’s even got the dog wondering what hit him - after all, he the great cat killer is now sharing the concession with a kitten! Of course, he’s not always that nice (the other day I had to tell him to spit her out of his mouth!) but she knows when things are safe, which is when I’m around. And of course, when I am, she takes the opportunity to smell his paws and take a peak at his food (which has meat…..!), although she’s smart enough not to challenge him and steal in front of his very eyes. Not sure I could keep him in check if she did!
Esther is finally becoming a cat person! Yippie-yay!
@Hanna: Lol, never thought so either but Nefertiti has me charmed!
I ´played with Östen today. He is one odd cat.
The problem with Östen is that he has never spent a day living in an underdeveloped country, so he doesn’t know how fortunate he is. You should send him over, but then I would have to get rid of the dog, so maybe not for another while…
