Last weekend, we decided to try the Sunday Brunch over at the Lyafa restaurant, which is situated at an easy walking distance, two blocks from Eden street.
The food was good, starting with the salads…
…and then moving on to the warm dishes.
Guinea fowl casserole with fried plantains and garlic-fried potatoes. Yummy! It’s always a treat when you go the restaurant, because you get to eat food you normally wouldn’t (at least not me!) cook yourself… And best of all, you don’t have to do the dishes!
It was a pleasant experience for 5000 CFA/person (a fruit dessert included but no coffee…) and let me assure you that none of us walked away hungry!

By the way, do you have anything to say about moringa? I understand the reason why moringa olifeira does not make it into the “Eden” list of plants is because it requires watering during the first six weeks of its growth.
But my contacts in Niger tell me that moringa leaves are all the craze on the Niamey main vegetable market.
So, what gives?
Ooh, fried plantains! I miss these from the Philippines!
@Jerome: Concerning the moringa, it’s the way of establishing them (plant nurseries) that requires irrigation for the first six weeks - not the plant itself. You are right however that they are a national favourite!
@Joy: I agree, fried plantains are great…!
