After a Saturday spent mostly in bed due to a stubbron migraine, I was keen on doing something new on Sunday. Aïssa came over for brunch and a Bollywood movie, and an hour later, her brother brought over someone to give me a henna-makeover.
Ah, do I see remnants of the migraine, perhaps? Lol!
The girl’s name was Rahama, and as soon as she knew what pattern I wanted and where to put it, she went straight to work.
For my sake, my only job was to turn and twist my leg so that she could access my foot! :-
And take a few pictures then and there…
In the meantime, Aïssa was busy selecting me a future Bollywood husband. She ended up settling for a semi good-semi bad character, whom I was supposed to mourn over when he took too many bullets to his chest, but at least I did not have to settle for a baby-faced protagonist! Lol, the coolest thing about watching a Bollywood movie with Aïssa is that even though she does not speak the language, she translates every twist and turn for me with an amazing accuracy. “Ok, so this is where the younger brother of your future husband dies, and becaue the guy they thought were their friend has betrayed them.” A little while later, when the protagonist goes to jail, she goes: “That’s just so that they can patch things up with his girlfriend again.”
As for the henna, it took a couple of hours (nearly three), but who wouldn’t enjoy the pampering?
It was cool just watching her technique!
I did the feet, then the hands, and finally the shoulders and the neck.
Here’s the end result (taken at the office yesterday):
Ishtar complete with henna!
Closeup on the hands
The feet seen from above
The shoulder
The neck
Did you like it? Will see what I decide to do next time (maybe a lighter shade) - but in any case, it was fun! A definitive must-do-again in the near future!

What’s this?? You watch a Bollywood movie when you can watch one of those wonderful movies form Nigeria?? (I wish I could remember the name of that one actor who starred in all the movies I watched while in Kenya!)
Very striking and unusual!
very cool!
Well, it’s been hugely appreciated by my fellow Nigeriens so that’s been fun! Unfortunately, it’s not holding very well except for the feet (it goes away a little every time you wash your skin, and you wash your hands more often than your feet) but that’s just a good excuse to do it again soon!
@Hanna: Unfortunately, Aïssa doesn’t like Nollywood movies, so I have to settle for Bollywood instead…
Isn’t that an HP nx8220 notebook on the table?
The designs are great..specially on the feet..and which bollywood movie did you watch?
