This weekend, I took the train to Gothenburg and spent two life quality days with an old friend of mine. It was fab! I also got the opportunity to look for clothes for Niger, which isn’t as easy as it seems. First of all, the fabrics should preferably be natural, or I will only be wearing them during wintertime. Secondly, they should adapt to the layer-on-layer concept which enables you to adjust your body temperature depending on the setting. Capri pants, long tank tops and thin cotton shirts are among my top wants for Niger. I also always try to look for colours and shapes that I don’t already have, but which will match well with an existing wardrobe. Being on an inspirational mood, we dashed into H&M, where to my surprise, I found all of the following (all destined for Niger):
A complete Niger expat outfit
Yellow cotton pants, an orange cotton top and a beige cotton shirt! 2007 was my year of Petroleum Blue, 2008 the year of Forest Green but I would not be surprised if 2009 turns out to be my Year of Orange, even though I’ve never been that fond of orange before!
I also found these very comfortable cyan-coloured pants and the petroleum blue top, which was a must.
And once I find a shape that works, I often end up buying it in different colours, so I can now go for the Lego-outfit, should I choose to! I think however I will much rather try to find some Nigerien tissue that will match the different items, creating that typical Ishtar-fashion which is all about merging the best of two worlds and still maintaining unity.
In either case, I have done my clothes-shopping for this time and can now spend the remaining of my two weeks doing other things, such as visiting the doctor, the dentist, and all the dear ones that matter! Oh yes, and also a book on how to give Isolde the best training in life! Any suggestions, anyone?

@Pat: Isn’t it! It’s the merging part that’s the most fun - finding colorful fabrics in Niger that will match!
Hej Esther!
Ville bara hälsa tillbaka (fick meddelandet från min bror)! Kul att höra från dig!
Vilken fin hemsida! Såg bilden på dig när du var liten och det var kul för det är så jag kommer ihåg dig. Det var ju några år sen…
Ha det gott!
Ishtar translation: Hi Esther! Nice to hear from you! What a nice site! I saw the picture of you when you were small, and that was fun, because that’s how I remember you. It’s been a few years… Take care!

–> same here! Haha! The contents of my wardrobe are different variants of the same!
@Katarina: I’m so glad to be in touch again! Internet makes it so much easier!
@Joy: Lol, we have more in common than a simple link to Sweden, that’s for sure!
“once I find a shape that works, I often end up buying it in different colours”
- this also applies to men! Though less the shape, rather a good piece like polo shirts for 9,- EUR that come in pleasant colours.
@JKE: So you, Joy and myself can join a club together! Anyone else out there who will bye the same “piece” in different colors when the shape/price is right?
Hello, how are you Esther? Nice photos. So you are leaving soon?
Wow! All the colors!!!!
P.s. I love orange, so I say go for it!
