I am off to Karin’s wedding today, in the very dress that Ringo made. As I know you will be eager to see some pictures, I will leave you with images from the Bachelorette Party (in Swedish called a ‘Möhippa’) that was held a few weeks ago.
The morning started with Hanna and I kidnapping a totally unsuspecting bride-to-be at her parents’ home. She was on her way to my place for a cup of coffee and couldn’t understand why Hanna and I gave her such a fright! Still, she didn’t understand she was in for her Bachelorette Party until Hanna started to unpack her “bridal outfit”…!
Looking pretty lovely and not so ridiculous, as other Swedish-brides-to-be have to be…
The whole Bridal Team after the surprise element in Karin’s parents’ garage…
No Swedish Bridal Shower without a task. Karin’s was harmless as all she had to do was to collect marital advice on the streets. Although people were reluctant at first, she soon found friendly people who left her with some very good advice!
The fun part came later, when we surprised Karin by taking her to a fencing arena! It was one of the things she’d told Hanna ages ago that she wanted to try at some point, and this was a once-in-a-life-time opportunity for many of us to try to […]!
Two blonds (later ranked 3rd and 1st) looking grand in a not-so-flattering outfit!
Adding the element of electricity…
First we got half an hour of practice!
And then it was time for the real thing! (above the first match which was between myself and the bride-to-be)
Waiting in between the rounds
After almost an hour of intensive fencing, I was ranked third after Karin and Jennifer, Hanna’s cousin. All though none of us had ever fenced before, we kept joking saying it was the riding that did it as fencing requires a lot of work. Unfortunately, there was one girl who’s tactics I couldn’t make out, and so I went out in the quarter finals.
Karin however moved on to meet Jennifer in the finals, winning the whole thing through sheer sweat and tactic! I am slightly proud to say though had it not been for the first match in beginning, which ended 3-2 to my favour, she would have gone entirely undefeated!
And in any case, the whole experience was one of the highlights of 2008. I had no idea that fencing would be so much fun, nor that it offered such a workout!
The rest of the evening was spent on a quiet cosy note at Hanna’s parents’ house.
We had pies and sallad, then coffee (!) and icecream and ended with a Bachelorette version of Jeapordy.
…and some other games as well…
It was a great day (I think Karin thought so to!) which left us physically wornout but phycologically very satisfied!
Now I’d better hurry so I’m not late for the wedding ceremony. After all, I must drive to Gothenburg first, and then make it to a little Island on the West Coast. See you later!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackYou and your friends are hilarious and obviously had lots of fun together! This is the first time I’ve ever heard of fencing as part of a bachelorette party…very unique and fun. Hope the wedding celebration was fun, too.
What a day, what a day…
No pics of me in the oh-so-terrible fencing pants (size XXL). Good thinking!
Fina bilder!! Tack för det fina möhippsalbumet, filmen ni hade gjort och det du läste på vigseln - du är kanon!!!
Kram Karin
