@Lori: Prior to departure, I spent nearly 24 hours a day with Sheba so that the bond would be as strong as possible. Once we were on our way, I made sure to stimulate her as much as possible in between the flights. Once on board, she settled at our feet and slept the whole six hour long journey from Amsterdam to Kano, which was a HUGE blessing, as she wasn't permitted out of her carrier.

@Pat: No, we didn't give her anything (except lots of love). I just made sure to stimulate her as much as I could between the flights.

@India: Feel free to link to us!

@Niger & Photogchic: Thanks!

@Childwoman: Yes, isn't she a darling!! I'm so grateful for her!

@Fe: It took Sheba a few days before she started to pay the horses any notice. The only problem now is that she isn't the least afraid of them and wants to bite their tails. So far, they've been very patient creatures, but I wouldn't try them all that much...

You look stunning - you're obviously feeling "in your element", as they say...I can't remember if I already did (I'll check) but I'd like to write a post and include a link to this blog - is that OK with you..?
Meanwhile, enjoy your reunion with your filly + others..:)

I too am glad you and Sheba made it safely to Niger! Did you give Sheba any kind of mild sedative for the trip, or is she too young to handle that? She looks like she loves her new environment.

Esther...Glad you made it home with Sheba. I'd love to know what you did with her for 35 hours...when you have a minute. You must be glad to be there...I'm sure you have seen your filly by now.
