It’s been coming for quite some time, but we recently made the decision to let one of our pets go. Believe it or not, it wasn’t Dennis Mugu (the dog who killed the cat)!
No, it was Amadeus the Goat who had to go the other day. When we first got him, he was the cutest little wimp, but unfortunately, that changed with time. Good feed made the little goat grow, and the gain in height reached his ego to the point where he got unfriendly with everyone, wanting to own the world. Unfortunately for us, his horns grew very big and powerful, and all of a sudden it wasn’t such a small thing to make him behave. While I was away in Sweden, he attacked both Tabita and Anette, and there went our charming goat pen… In normal cases, I like to work with difficult animals, but I must confess that I knew nothing of goats prior to acquiring Amadeus and Esmeralda, and have not been able to create a bond with this particular individual. Hence no Ishtar efforts to bring him to his senses… Once we made up our minds to let him go, Ali enforced it two hours later, wanting to rescue poor Esmeralda from any more bullying goat abuse. Instead, he brought along his little female, who will accompany Esmeralda until she gives birth to her little kid, if the fetus is still alive after the Amadeus’ numerous attacks on Esmeralda’s belly.
As the little newcomer is not an addition to Ishtar’s Ark but only a visitor, it is this site’s custom to ask the readers for a suitable name. Any suggestions for this little sweetie?

Amadeus — is he ‘intact’? I have found with horned animals — sheep and goats especially — being friendly with intact males is not a good idea. I prefer to leave them unhandled and wild, so their first thought is to move away from me when I approach. When a horned, intact male feels confident around me, I am at great risk for being treated like any other animal.
I will say that because goats hate getting wet, a squirt of water from a spray bottle will put off most goats I’ve encountered. But I dislike having to be on the lookout all the time.
@LJB: Thanks, that’s really good to know! Yes, Amadeus was intact and we made the mistake of making friends with him. After a while, he started becoming very possessive of his female, which still seemed “fair enough”, and I’m sure we could have scared him off enough for him to leave people alone, but this past month he was abusing Esmeralda (the other goat) so badly that there was no fun left for anyone. I don’t think we’ll be keen on getting another horned male, and so with the exception of Dennis Mugu, all residents of Ishtar’s Ark may end up being females!
My name suggestioons are Pascal or Pasquale.
…or Belle.
