@LJB: Thanks, that's really good to know! Yes, Amadeus was intact and we made the mistake of making friends with him. After a while, he started becoming very possessive of his female, which still seemed "fair enough", and I'm sure we could have scared him off enough for him to leave people alone, but this past month he was abusing Esmeralda (the other goat) so badly that there was no fun left for anyone. I don't think we'll be keen on getting another horned male, and so with the exception of Dennis Mugu, all residents of Ishtar's Ark may end up being females! :-)

"Dolly" comes to mind for a name.

Amadeus -- is he 'intact'? I have found with horned animals -- sheep and goats especially -- being friendly with intact males is not a good idea. I prefer to leave them unhandled and wild, so their first thought is to move away from me when I approach. When a horned, intact male feels confident around me, I am at great risk for being treated like any other animal.

I will say that because goats hate getting wet, a squirt of water from a spray bottle will put off most goats I've encountered. But I dislike having to be on the lookout all the time.
