Finally, I got to meet Isolde yar’Arwen. She is one fabulous young lady! Although I’ve had to keep an eye on Sheba since arriving, there is lots of room in my heart for Isolde too! Photogchic was right, she does have her mother’s long legs. She also seems to have her father’s smaller (slightly Arabian-looking) head.

Anette has done a fabulous job with her, for she loves humans and doesn’t try to squash anyone. She’s a bit of a nibbler, but what’s to be expected when all her teeth are coming out at once!

Her favourite pasttime seconded to eating must be to scratched and groomed by humans! She also loves to play, and if all goes well, we’ll be heading out on a couple of expeditions this weekend!

It was lovely to meet the other two girls - now ladies. Sahara is now 4 months from delivery and has become so sweet and wise. I love it when the young ones “grow up”!

Arwen was fabulous - as always - and just being in her presence makes time stand still. She’s such a sweet mother who lets Isolde have lots of freedom, but should she get too far away, Arwen comes charging to protect her and not even Sahara the dominant mare can stand in her way… :-)

It’s so nice to be back in Niger and I look forward to the coming season with Arwen, Sahara and Isolde!
