Our little Sheba is very brave, and we have yet to see anything that will frighten this young Rhodesian Ridgeback pup of eleven weeks of age.
Some things in life however do require a certain amount of respect and precaution, which Sheba sometimes lacks. Not wanting to take the chance of her learning a devastating life-lesson from our very dominant barb mare Sahara (whose tail Sheba thought was the best of toys…), we decided to take things slowly and start off by integrating our two youngsters at Ishtar’s ark: Isolde the filly and Sheba the RR!
At first, Sheba had to contend with a good view from the veranda, which she obviously was not all that pleased about…
Isolde however was all for the encounter. This little darling loves people by the way, and constantly begs us to scratch her neck!
Well actually, we humans are invited to scratch her all over if we like, and filly never has enough of it either…
Anette and 1½ of our horses
Sahara the dominant mare in front of Anette and a very cuddly Isolde!
Someone’s growing…!
Finally, it was Sheba’s turn to come out, although under a slightly controlled form…
The dog was a little more skeptic than the filly, but that was only good!
After a good sniffing, the friction was broken and Sheba has been careful with the horses ever since. What followed was a cool photo shoot with the littlest ones of Ishtar’s Ark!
With the newcomers at Ishtar’s Ark - who would think that the dog is twice the age of the filly?
“Perfect, girls, perfect!”
Sheba is no longer a baby! I can’t believe I carried her around in a little bag just two weeks ago!
Now there’s a good lick! ![]()

Hej! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I do have connections in Sweden. I’m engaged to a Swede who currently lives in Stockholm. We’re planning to be married here in the US next year and then move back to Sweden over the next couple of years. I’ve been to Sweden (Stockholm, Karlstad, Gotland) several times now I really love it there.
Nice to meet you! I will bookmark your blog so I can read what you add here! Thanks!
@Pat: For sure! I’m way more relaxed already as they’ve seem to be good friends who like to hang out together. Sometimes Sheba tells Isolde to back off when Isolde wants to share her hideout under the bush, but that’s as much friction as we get…
When it comes to Dennis Mugu however, Isolde doesn’t mind giving him a teaseful airkick when she passes him in full gallop! Let’s just hope she hasn’t inherited her mother’s superb aim!
@Mary: That’s so cool!
Vad härligt det ser ut med dina små bäbisar!
Kram
I think it’s so good to introduce young horses and puppies to each other. It will benefit both Sheba and Isolde as they grow to not be afraid of horses and dogs. I can just imagine you riding Isolde with Sheba running along beside you.
