I love the Zinder bush. Although I’ve seen it a zillion times, I can never get tired of it.
It’s just this tremendous expanse of scenery that reaches for the horizon - sporadically dotted with a handful of ancient rocks and sturdy old acacia trees. Add the contrast of the yellow sand, the red soil and the deep blue sky, and you have the reasons why the Zinder bush is my favourite piece of nature.
The dogs love it too, which is why Anette and I love to bring them along for this beautiful morning walk. It’s also a fun place to photoshoot!

My dear sister-in-law baked the lovely “tiger-cake”. Now did you want a glass of cold water, home-made hibiscus drink, coffee or tea?

Your world is breathtaking! I have never been to Africa nor expect to have the opportunity to go there! But I am loving this journey through your eyes! So glad I stumbled upon your blog! Expect me to be a regular visitor! I want to see more!
Greetings from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia!
Esther: What a beautiful walk through the countryside of your area of the world. That was a complete view of the land and was just wonderful. Thanks for sharing with us.
It looked like fun dog-life there in the Sahara! Brilliant, I loved this post. Tack ska du ha!
You know I think that’s one of the few times that Dennis Mugu has looked really happy in your pictures. He sounds like a grouch from your previous posts but he looked like he was really enjoying himself on your walk. Maybe Sheba is making him cheer up?
I enjoyed taking that walk with you. Beautiful dogs!
What a great site. I hope you don’t mind being added to my blogroll. Those pictures are great. What an amazing place to run around with your dogs, who are adorable by the way.
Wish I could go on a ride or walk with you guys! I yearn for different views—a blogwalk will have to do for now!
Esther…nice walk today! There is one more award waiting for you at my Journal.

@Arija: That’s a long story! Best described here:

@Gemma: I’m so glad! Thanks for giving us the virtual tour of your world! I’ve always loved Australia (even though I’ve never been there) - I think it’s the expanse that has been tempting me all this time…
@FG: So glad you liked it! Not much fishing being done in this part of the world though, but there’s lots of pictures to be taken!!
@Chrome: Hej! I’m glad you liked it! Zinderområdet är så fridfullt, det vore synd att inte dela det!
@Amanda: You are right, Dennis Mugu really does LOVe the outback! The thing about him is that he has all these issues with people and confined places, and I think the expanse of the bush is just want he needs to feel well at ease. Sheba has definitively helped him out of his shell, even though he can be quite grumpy with her as well and must spend a lot of time wishing he didn’t have to share his life with this spoiled pup… But she means well, and when he thinks we’re not looking, you can tell he appreciates all the fuss (hugs and kisses) that he gets from her.
@Jennifer: I’m so glad, I think you needed the (virtual) tour outdoors spending so much time in the city!
@Jenny: Of course I don’t mind! Dennis and Sheba really love the Zinder outback; I am sure Sadie, Hope and Faith would too!
@Jacksonsgrrl: That would be soooo grand! There are just so many trails to choose from, and the horses love it!
What a wonderful post…I love that it’s a dog walk…It looks, minus the rocks, like what we call a scrub, and that’s where I take the dog for a run…Things are the same all over
esther….i just love reading your blog and your photographs are always so interesting
thanks for sharing.
have a wonderful week ^..^
Amazing, exotic and beautiful!
The pictures just took me away, to that bush trail fantasy, a new day heating up, exotic smells and sounds, … The illusion cracking just at the “fika” part when I really got jealous of you guys!!! Well, November is over and Swedish busy habits in December makes daily life a little less dark I guess.
I love the desert. A little dusty for a walk, but I love it anyway. Yours looks fabulous! And the treats when you returned look terrific as well!
I’ll take hibiscus, and a second slice of tiger-cake please. That wonderful walk through the Zinder bush made me hungery. What an amazing place you live in. Thanks for sharing the great tour. Africa is on my bucket list.
Sahara desert? Have you ventured in?
This walk was wonderful.
I like your writing. I totally enjoy reading your stories and love your pics you put together with the words. Great!!!
Beautiful walk through the Zinder bush. Nice to be out in your world.
See you next week.
