This morning, it was exactly one month since our surprise arrival of Sahara’s first offspring, little Kalahari!
If life holds a true mystery to me, it’s how time manages to pass by so quickly. After all, Kalahari’s birth seemed like yesterday!
Being the monthlygirl, her present from me was a sugar cube, which she has recently started to enjoy.
Keeping it away from other sweet-teethed equine mouths however was tricky!
Sheba gave her a kiss,
…and Anette gave her a hug.
Who knows what else the day holds in store?
Happy first month, Kalahari!
Aw, here’s a bonus kiss from Sheba before we head off to work…

So glad I can visit blogs again after being computerless for over a week!
She has a very kind little face. Is she a Barb?
Happy 1st month Birthday, Kalahari!
Great photos, as usual, Esther. Kalahari looks so sweet and gentle. It makes me wish I had a horse.
Sheba and Kalahari look as if they’re already developing a special bond. Happy birthday to your pretty little filly.
Another beautiful baby. You and Anette are doing something very right with your care to have such fabulous foals.
Happy 30-day to Kalahari!
And, Sheba is just HUGE!
Blessings to all.
Cute!!!! I love that little pink triangle on her nose! Jackson has pink too and it’s my favorite place to kiss…. I know a horse would prefer nice firm massages at the withers and up the neck, but I need my fix too!
She is so cute! That month went by very fast……just like the rest of life.
@Gemma: I read on that one; we’ve been more or less without Internet for a couple of days and you don’t tell how much you’re used to something before it disappears!
@Leah: Yes, she’s a barb. A pure blooded Nigerien barb!
@My Open Roads: Kalahari says thank you!
@Pat: That young age is fabulous, since they don’t know anything else but what you show them…
@Janie: We’re hoping!
@Fe: Aw, both Kalahari and Sheba say thank you!
@Jacksonsgrrl:
Personally, I’m not a big pink detail fan, but Kalahari’s is just a small little dot, very cute! And your Jacks was such a smart looking colt!!!
@Loran: Well, good thing we get to celebrate some events along!
That’s so cute that Sheba gives her kisses! Awww.
Kalahari has such gentle, contented eyes. She clearly feels safe and loved. How is her personality different from Isolde’s? I think sometimes when i look at your photos that Sheba wishes she was a horse too.l
@Lindsay:
@Victoria: Although great friends, Kalahari and Isolde are complete opposites. Maybe that’s even why they get along so well, seeing there’s a pretty big (horse) age gap? Kalahari is much more reserved than Isolde, who inspected everything and everyone. Kalahari needs more time and is careful, but once she has something figured out, she’s fine. Kalahari is also much more dominant than Isolde and I don’t think it will last long before Kalahari is the boss of Isolde, rather than the other way around!
What beautiful pictures! Foals have such sweet faces.
