A beautiful Sunday morning at Isthar’s ark.
Sheba and Kalahari rest together in the sand.
Our one month old filly rolls in the sand, eyes closed, under the watchful scrutiny of the self-proclaimed personal bodyguarddog Sheba.
While Kalahari tries to nap, Sheba decides to give the filly a little grooming.
What? You didn’t like that?
OK, I’ll be horse then and you get to scratch me!
Unfortunately, despite the best of invitations, there are moments when little girls just don’t want to play. Although Kalahari is not a talkative one, she is very clear on what she wants and what she doesn’t want.
And dismisses Sheba’s company for something the canine can never compete with: a drink, fresh from the milk station.
Thankfully for Sheba, there are other pack members to turn to.
Anette, will you play with me? Kalahari doesn’t want to be my friend today.
Now, who can say no to that?
Can we wrestle, Anette? I won’t see Baloo until tomorrow and my teeth are itching so badly! Please…? Pretty, pretty, please…?
But gentle play and RR wrestling are two very different things and neither Anette nor I enjoy the bruises!
How about a nice ride in the bush instead, Sheba?
Coming!!
Hope you’re all enjoying your weekend!

Oh Sheba, you get to hang out with such neat animals! It looks like a world of fun and adventures. I LOVE that picture of you kissing Annette….very sweet.
Have a great weekend!

The little ones always like food more than anything. Playing around is a distant second.
Esther…You and Annette are doing something right with all your animals for them to relate to each other the way they do…I am very impressed!
Friday Ark #232…
We’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals (photoshops at our discretion and humans only in supporting roles). Watch the Exception category for rocks, beer, coffee cups, and….? Visit all the …
agreed that these animals relate in ways that tell a lot about their owners. love these photos.
Oh Esther, once again you treat us to the most beautiful pictures and well-captioned interplay between your animals. Sheba has such a beautiful nature. I wish we were nearer and our two “girls” could play together. Hugs Jo
Isn’t it wonderful the way animals communicate, and isn’t it wonderful how different species can get along together just fine ? (Wouldn’t it be marvellous if we humans could take a lesson from their books at times !)
oh my gosh, the photos of sheba and the filly are amazing!!!
