This past Friday, three-year-old Tabita visited Eden’s field station in Tanout for the first time together with her father Josef, grandfather and my cousin Daniel.

It was a big experience. Prior to their departure, she was writing with chalk on the veranda, and explained to her mother that the first word that she had written (”HAY”) stated that she was happy. The second word (”AA”) stated that she would soon be going to the field station. The third word (”AH”) stated that she was very much looking forward to it. The forth and last word she had written (”HA”) stated that she would then be able to see for herself where “all the people worked”. Her mother smiled, nodded, and then sent us all a charming email with the thoughts of this clever three-year-old.

Driving down the Visitor’s Road of the field station

On their way home, they experienced a sand storm.

I have yet to ask Tabita what she found of this exciting encounter, but I know for a fact from a previous sandstorm skywatch that few people are eager to meet this seasonal Sahara greeting in person!

On image however, it is less threatening, and maybe you will even find the picture below beautiful, as the sand wriggles through the air with snakelike maneuvers!

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackShe’s a very sweet, beautiful and happy little girl. I wish all the children could be as happy as Tabita.
What a well-adjusted little girl your neice is, Esther. Natural upbringing far outweighs the modern idea of giving children things instead of your time. I love her explanation: I’m sure her aunt was very proud to receive it on email. Thanks for a beautiful post. (((Hugs))) Jo
What interesting photos - your neice must have been very excited by her adventure!
The patterns of the sand blowing remind me of snow…
Tabita looks as if she is really loving her adventure! Such a beautiful smile! And I must admit that the sandstorm has beauty in pictures, but in my few experiences, it can burn the skin and the eyes!
Brilliance seems to run in the family!
Looks as though Tabita had a great adventure. I wonder what she’ll tell you about it…
I bet Tabita has a marvelous trip! Your photos are terrific as always — have to admit I wouldn’t want to get caught in the sandstorm! I grew up in west Texas and we had some terrible ones, but these make them look like nothing!
Enjoy, have a great weekend!
She is a lucky little girl to be in such a uniques place, interesting photos!
Wow! Those sand storm photos are very interesting.
Now there’s an idea… if you can’t read/write the language, just make up your own! What a clever girl!
The driest sky I have ever seen.
Those sand storms do look scary and I don’t think I’d care to experience one in person either.
howdy esther.
what a little sweetie tabita is…and i bet she had a great time experiencing life at the field station. love your shots. and the sand wiggles on the pavement…very artistic. and the sand wiggles are very like the dry snow on the pavement…
have a wonderful weekend.
I bet Tabita had an awesome time. What’s that on her hat?
They are beautiful captures, but no thanks to a first hand experience. Wonder waht Tabita thought.
Hi!
I enjoyed the photos of the lil’ one
Quite a different drive along the road than the one from another blog I visited tonight during Skywatch …
Joy & Peace,
Maria
She is so cute!!! Love the dusting safari shots!
Esther: I have a hard time wrapping my mind around a sandstorm. You can see it on film but experiencing it has to be something else.
