For as long as I can remember, I’ve been summer working at Gekås; a huge warehouse that attracts busloads of people from all over Europe, and is the considered the biggest tourist attraction in the country. I skipped two years when my mother was sick, but today, I start again on what will be my seventh or eight season. It’s a 40 minute drive from where I live but the busses go reguarly, but since I don’t get travel sick, I take the occasion to work on my Hausa.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackAs teachers sometimes say here, “Esther makes good use of time and materials” and, “Esther is a good independent worker.” I am very impressed with your diligence and self-discipline! Even after twenty-some years in Niger, and you still must study the language–that shows what a difficult language it is for westerners to learn!
All the best Esther with your studies.
So how it goes with you living in Niger & Sweden. What amount of Your year you spend here and there?
You lead a very interesting life Esther, so many contrasts.
What do you do there? I looked at the website but, uh, my Swedish is a little rusty.
This is a huge change from your work in Niger. I’m sure it’s healthy to see both sides - the so-called civilized, and the more primitive (and more natural) land in Niger.
