Sheba & Baghera’s Seven, of course!

Mr Shida’s on his weekly weigh-in
Even I can’t understand how quickly they’ve grown, and having started out looking like little rodents, they’ve now reached the age when they are totally irresistible!

Feeding seven growing pups is an exhausting activity, and no one is happier than their young mother that the pups are now having regular additional meals… As is she!

Puppy meals currently consist of sorghum porridge, raw meatballs and egg yoke.

My nieces Tabita (4) and Priscilla (2) love to be around the puppies.

Aren’t they just adorable?

Now that my father is in Sweden, Badamasi is taking care of them in his place.

Some of you have asked how many we’re going to keep. Plans are to keep them all, even though Anette and I are resisting the temptation of bringing one with us home, as we have our hands full with Sheba and the old rascal Dennis Mugu! We will have our hands full training them and make sure they grow up to healthy, happy and well-behaved individuals!

Good guard dogs are hard to come by in these parts of the world. It’s been nine years since our last litter, when Baghera (the father of these puppies) and his brothers Dennis, Aslan and Baloo were born.

Mr Bakwai and Mr Shida quarreling over Mr Shida’s food

Did I tell you I find them irresistible at this stage? Look at the face of Mr Bakwai! I told you he was to be reckoned with, despite being the youngest of the lot. From the looks of things, I can’t tell who’s winning the battle, but Mr Shida is certainly voicing his ownership over the raw meatball he has yet to devour.

You asked me how I can tell the different between the puppies, as they all look pretty much the same (except for Mr Shida above, who has his father’s darker coat).

Well, if I have a couple of pictures from different angles, I can make out which puppy is which from their individual markings. The pups above are two of the girls and look very much like Miss Hudu to the right and Miss Uku to the left (the smallest of the litter) although I would need to see the rest of the puppies (Miss Daya in particular) in order to be 100% sure. Miss Uku has been growing very well since they started with additional feed, while Miss Hudu has had a slower start discovering what food served by humans is all about. She seems to be getting it now, though!

You have so much more patience than I. We rescued all our animals when they were young adults. My little Martha is showing she is younger than we all originally thought. I confess to not having a lot of patience for having to housebreak a pup. She’s fine in her crate but she hasn’t made the leap to including the house as her crate. We’re still having accidents in the house.
Has it been five weeks!?!
They are adorable! Growing so big and healthy~
All the best, Maria
They’re little white toes just get me everytime I see pictures of them. They are so adorable. What fun (and a lot of work!) to be able to keep them all!
Du verden så store de er blitt og utrolig fine. Tenker Sheba er glad for at hvalpene får ekstra mat. 7 valper er mange å fore på. Det er virkelig moro å få følge med dem etter som de vokser. Ha en fin weekend!
Wow so glad I stopped by here! These are so adorable! What an amazing collection of such innocent beauty in these little pups!
Wish I was there to pet them and play with them too
The are growing into recognizable individuals. I don’t know how you could not want to take one, two, or more home. But at least you’ll be around them. I’d take one in a heartbeat. I’m sure Sheba is glad to get a break once in a while at meal time.
Those adorable pups look full of vim and vigor, while Sheba looks exhausted, poor girl. I love the puppies’ little white toes! You will certainly be busy with training 7 puppies!
Hey Esther….The litter is looking great. If the pups don’t come home with you, where will they be?
Only a couple more days of work for you in Sweden.
Are you anxious to go home about now?
Åhh sötisar!
Vem är fadern?
5 weeks already! Time is flying.
I love the photo of the messy face. It’s always funny to see them wearing so much of their food until they get the hang of it.
I doesn’t get better than this!
Kids and puppies just go together.
Poor Sheba looks a bit harried. The puppy with his dinner all over his face is adorable. Fun photos!
Oooh, wonderful, wonderful! The photos of the little human pups with the puppies are ADORABLE!! Don’t they just love each other?! Schnauzer snuggles - JD and Max.
