After we had been skywatching on Ven earlier that day, Anette and I had supper with Julie (owner of Sheba’s sister and aunt) and her family, in their beautiful home in Ystad.

After a warm and sunny day, the sky promised a beautiful ending!

The ridgebacks however were equally fascinating! Sheba would have LOVED to be in the midst of that canine group, with consisted of her aunt Zelma and sisters Heika and Vilda (from the same litter as Sheba).

Aunt Zelma (to the left) checks up on the youngsters (Heika standing, Vilda on the ground)

Julie gives us a tour of their home, which has been a huge but fascinating renovation project…

After a while, the sunset grew golden,

…reminding of Africa, where the heat likes to make an imprint on the beautiful sky canvases.

While the ridgebacks played,

the humans talked,

and suddenly, the sunlight was giving everything a pink touch!

From golden to pink & purple

And while the sun put on a brilliant display,

…Anette and I took the opportunity to fill our ridgeback void,

…losing all concept of time in the world of canine play.

All pastell now - the beautiful Ystad sunset

While the yearling sisters played,

…their aunt sat and watched, interupting only when the play got to intense.

For a brief moment, I slipped away to give the sunset a little attention of its own,

…only finding myself coming back to the world of ridgebacks!

We had a wonderful evening with Julie, her family & friends and their ridgebacks, and if we thought we had enjoyed the sky as much as we could have, the beautiful sunset stayed with us during our three hour long drive home!

Everything was beautiful! I loved the dogs, the home, the sky and the next to the last photo is quite a composition. Sheba certainly is very much like her siblings. You are almost home….
Esther, I enjoyed every single scene of your visit with Julie, her family and beautiful Ridgebacks. What a stunning home and you caught it in the pink sunset. Every one of your images were a delight. I’m going back to look again! Soon you’ll be on your way… Jo

What fun–enjoying Ridgebacks and also a long, lovely Swedish sunset. The colors on the sky canvas changed hour by hour. I’m glad you got to have all that RR time.

Beautiful skies, Esther! Nice to get a Ridgeback fix, too. But it won’t be long until you have your hands full of them!
Esther: It looks like it was a fight between the Ridgebacks and the sky for the best views.

Wow, what a fun day to play with the Ridgebacks. Now you’ll really be ready to see Sheba. That house is awesome. And so are the sunset colored skies.
Beautiful shots with the flowers in the foreground! Very lovely. They are magnificent dogs, too!
Several wonderful skies, but as you say the Ridgebacks do steal the show. They are having so much fun.
Esther, that was lovey, the perfect sunset, the playing dogs and the beautifully restored house of Julie. Glad you got a good Ridgeback refresher course so you can last till you are back with Sheba and the puppies.
