Monday last week saw the end of the Ramadan fasting, and the whole street was celebrating.

The kids were thrilled when they saw that I took out my camera, and wanted to pose with Sheba. Sheba however, my lovely ridgeback girl from Sweden, was not in the best of photo posing modes,

…and I thought the kids looked better without her. :-)

A few seconds down the road, we met Sheba’s longtime friends Adama and Abdul, who were also celebrating. Sheba dived in to greet them, but kept her back to the camera. Talk about (ridgeback) teenage attitude!

Being an ambitious dog owner, I thought we’d gave posing a try nevertheless, for the kids’ sake. It can’t always be about what “we feel like”, right?  Sheba sat down as asked but yawned loudly while Aichatu tried to position her younger brother Abdul in place.

Now taking pictures in Niger is serious business. People will often give you their strictest and most official pose, all according to the dominating photo shooting fashion of this part of the world. Anette and I will often start off with a few serious shots and then go for the informal ones.

Sheba however was in no mood for strict official Nigerien photo posing and gave the shot her own twist. :-D

Now that’s what you get for asking a ridgeback to comply when she isn’t in the mood!
