Our little Sandy has been making some wonderful progress lately!

It’s been a long journey since we started with water therapy some three weeks ago, but just before my dad flew back to Europe last Saturday, Sandy had started to lift himself off the ground and practice walking.

He could only take a few steps at a time, but after having watched him be “ground bound” for nearly five weeks (!), it was amazing to see him up again!

And those few steps allowed him to be back in the flock again!

At this point, water therapy was losing its charm according to Sandy (why swim when you can practice walking???) - and so I put a towel under his belly to help ease the pressure on his limbs, and to help him walk that extra mile. His mother and sisters found this a very interesting concept and eagerly volunteered to help.

During the past few days, Sandy is making more and more progress, walking longer distances and faster. Having lost all his back leg muscles, he looks like a frail Bambi on ice! But he keeps practicing, eager to reestablish his hierarchy in the pack.

It’s been a long journey getting to where we are today,

and the struggle is far from over,

…but when you want something really badly (and Sandy wants to be up running again really badly!), you can do it! Don’t mind if you look like Bambi on ice, there’s nothing more charming than someone trying, despite the obstacles.

Greetings from our little fighter!

Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Khyra told us about your lovely blog and we came by to meet you. We don’t know what happened to Sandy that he couldn’t walk but he sure is determined to be back on his feet again.
It looks promising. Keep on fighting!
Glad to see that you are using the towel under Sandy’s belly. It really worked for us. He is such a beautiful boy. Thank you for sticking with him.
Adorable as ever - I particularly like the photo of him underneath his sister!
And a valuable reminder about being determined…even when you feel like giving up.
He is so beautiful. At least he is in your good hands. I look forward to reading about his progress.
That Sandy is a survivor. Good to see him on his feet, a little, and with his siblings and Sheba.

What a trooper! (Sandy AND the humans.)So glad he’s doing better.
Sandy is such a little trooper. I’m cheering him on here, 10,000k away! He is inspirational.
YOu have done such a good job with him and he is such a fighter. What a great story!
Keep fighting, Sandy. You’re getting well, even if there’s a bit of slip-sliding along the way.
I’m happy to hear this success story. I know you’ve worked hard to make it happen, Esther.
It looks as though Sandy is using his tail as a kind of rudder! He’s a fighter, that’s for sure - good for him!
What sweetness. Sandy is obviously a fighter. He is so beautiful, as all your babies are.
Good for Sandy! and good for you, too. It’s wonderful to see these photos.
Sending lots of healing thoughts Sandy’s way for continued progress. It’s great to see him trying so hard and with a smile on his face too! Go Sandy!
Just wanted to say you did a wonderful job with him. As an animal lover, it’s always nice to see others helping one in need. Here’s to a speedy recovery!
