As were were out riding in the bush, we passed these lovely red bird nests hanging from the tree.
Shaped like perfect onions and of a red colour, they were different from those I normally notice. I had to ride up to them for a closer view.
Just as I was taking pictures,
…the birds came back to feed their youngsters. I was sitting on my horse just a meter away but they didn’t mind me at all.

The last photo is just perfect - the nests are beautifully intricate. The birds also remind me of some antique Christmas ornaments of my grandparents!
I love weaver birds. I’ve mostly seen the black masked weaver ( bright yellow with black mask)but once had a red weaver built a nest just outside the living room window. What’s interesting about them is that the female inspects the nest as the male is weaving it. If it’s not up to her specs, she’ll tear it up and make him start all over.
Those ornamental bird nests are very colorful. You got very lucky. The birds look kind of like one of our grossbeaks. Excellent captures Esther.
