Hi guys… it’s not every day I get to have a spot on Esther’s blog, so I’d better take the opportunity! The name is Ecco, born Miss Uku, but Esther likes to call me a Eccolina. I believe that’s Swedish for saying I like you!

A few weeks ago, we had a weigh-in… Esther convinced me to go into the bag, believing I wouldn’t like it. Sure was, none of my siblings did! But hey, someone’s got to want to be different…

Mom said she couldn’t understand what I was doing in HER bag - for from what I’ve heard, this is the bag mom came to Africa in.

And I’m not sure either was the point with the exercise was, but Esther was happy to have me in it and that was fine by me.

And the thing was, the bag was warm and comfy… Really comfy. So when Esther opened it up, I stayed in it. After all, it ain’t always that easy having to share everything with two sisters and a brother. This was one of the few times I got to have something just for myself, and that was really cozy…

After a while, I wanted out, but my legs were kind of stuck. I looked over at Esther - after all, she put me there - but she just smiled and said “Eccostar, why don’t you figure it out yourself?”

Aw, humans are strange sometimes. They put us in different places and positions and want us to do all sorts of tricks, which we do to please them, even though they are of the silliest kind. But then when we do REAL tricks, beautiful tricks that only ridgebacks and Azawakhs can do (like flying through open doors in midair or managing to get twice your own portion of something) those same humans don’t seem so happy about it anymore.

Anyways. I got out of that bag all right. I am my mother’s daughter, aren’t I?

Against the cold stone floor, however, the bag was really soft and comfortable. I had to stay a little while longer.

Then I realised -

There’s no trying something new, without tasting it! You see, I’m really good when it comes to biting activity. I must admit though that this colourful bag didn’t come with a particularly favourable flavour, so there was no point in trying to eat it.

I stayed close to it for a long while (a long while in my world, at least!) - long enough for Anette to catch my beautiful pose. Esther says I have a beautiful face. Do you agree? Anyways, this is where my story ends. Esther says I should send you all a big hug and not tell you about all the shoes I’ve chewed on while developing my biting skills (in case you would want to visit), or my talent at jumping up on chairs and tables when the humans aren’t looking (in case you would want to eat her solar cookedfood one day). By the way, Esther also says I’m a late bloomer and that I in a very short time have I’ve managed to catch up with my previously so mischievous sister Ronja. Ha! Someone’s got to spice things up a bit, don’t you think?

OK, that’s Esther right there telling me my time is up… Nice talking to you guys! Hope to get a chance to talk to you again…

Warm greetings from Ecco, aka Sheba’s Miss Uku of Baghera
