It’s been two months now since Kimi said goodbye to his family for a brief period of time. His stay at Ishtar’s Ark has gone well, and during his time with us, he has grown well and developed into a calm, sensible pup with a natural sense of guardianship. When his family left, he had already attached himself to Renate, and so Anette and I kept a very low profile, making sure he would not switch focus from them to us.

Well, a dog can only go without his family for so long, and a few nights ago, Kimi suffered from a severe bout of depression. We came out one morning to find him shivering and not his usual self. I did not think so much about it until he wouldn’t have his meat later that night, and nothing seemed to be the same anymore. We took his temperature (a low fever) and decided that the best remidy was to pamper him up and make sure he stayed in good spirits until the arrival of his very own family.

Kimi got royal treatment as he was installed next to his mother on the veranda for night. Having spent all the other nights out in the garden with his Uncle Dennis and his two siblings, Kimi could simply not believe his luck.

Wearing Sheba’s second fleece vest and his own blanket, he kept waiting for me to tell him “Time’s up, Kimi!” and to go join the rest of the flock inside.

I’m pretty amazed at how unqieu the Sheba Seven are in personality. Kimi is the Thinker, who takes it all in for a while and acts later.

He needed for me to sit down and pat him until he settled down for the night, and then - settle he did. I came out a few minutes later and found mother and son cuddled up in their blankets, enjoying top pampering level.

The good news for Kimi is that he does not have to wait long to move into his permanent home, as his family comes back the day after tomorrow! We plan on heading over there on Wednesday and will probably be lending out Sheba’s second fleece vest to the one son who inherited the RR short fur and need desire for pampering.

Can’t wait to see you again, Garvi Jrs!

The nights must be very cool there. How are the other three pups doing?
Oh this post brought tears to my eyes for many reasons, Esther. I just LOVE Kimi and know that his family can’t wait to be re-united with him. Good on you for pampering him when he needed it most. BTW, is that a toy HEDGEHOG I see? (((Hugs))) for you and soft pats for Kimi. Jo.xxx
Sweet, sensitive Kimi! He seems to have inherited the strongest RR qualities of the 7. Does he have a nice ridge, I wonder?
You are such a good RR mom!
We’ll be looking forward to THAT post!
Poor Kimi. I’m sure after a little attention he was feeling better. So nice that hel’ll be reunited with his family soon.
What a sweet, sensitive boy. It will be a happy reunion for everybody.
Like mother like son… I see he burrows down in his blanket just like his mom!
I know that look though. It’s the look I get every morning when I have to leave for work. Always makes me anxious to get home again.
Hang in there Kimi, they’ll be back soon!
You can see it in his face - he looks bereft! I hope his loving doggy prescence will help his new family heal after all they’ve been through recently.
Poor little Kimi. I’m glad his family is coming back soon.
Kimi will be so excited to see his family and they will be thrilled with the reunion. We also think that you and Sheba will miss the little guy:)
Woos, Phantom and Thunder
These are the cutest photos of Kimi. He looks so sad but so beautiful! Poor little thing! But he is in good, loving hands!
Hope Kimi is better now and reunited with his family.
