Welcome to the seasonal lake of Dadin Serki, West Africa.

Sheba, the Rhodesian ridgeback, has not had much contact with water before but loves it with passion.

Any birds that need to be exercised today?

Running through water is a wonderful new challenge!

When the level becomes too deep,

…it’s time to work on some freestyle!

Switching directing can be tricky when you do it for the first time,

…but hey, when you’re a problem-solving Rhodesian ridgeback, you’ve got it all under control!

The photographer shoots numerous pictures of the water-loving ridgeback,

…from the back of her steady mount.

Then all of a sudden, the swift-swimming ridgeback becomes a bouncing crocodile, coming out of the water so suddenly that it scares off the photographer’s horse! Luckily, the photographer’s horse is a sensitive mount that soon calms down again, so that her rider can resume her photographic activities.

SHEBA to the audience: “Oh well! I wasn’t really a crocodile… You should see me when I’m in my REAL hunting mode, this was NOTHING in comparison!”

We are not much into swimming (well, except for Cheoah, but loved the pictures of Sheba enjoying it.
We see so many dogs loving the water. We have never been close enough to a lake or river or ocean to test it out. We often wonder what we would think. Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

Neat photos - the landscape in Niger is so interesting!
Sheba rocks! I just love that girl.
Great photos too!
Oh Sheba, come over to South Africa for a visit and teach me to bound in the water like that. I’m still a little wary of deep waters and only sniff at the edges. Tail wags, from Angie
Sheba definitely wears a smile as she comes out of the water. Good thing the photographer didn’t drop the camera when her trusty mount spooked!
Enjoyed your comment under one photo “Any birds that need to be exercised today?” Each comment gives an extra sparkle to the photo! Sheba certainly seems to be havig so much fun! And I think the photographer is too trying to keep up with her!
Great scene.
The first shot is so pretty. Just a lovely scene. It looks like your dogs likes to swim, my Goldie does too.
beautiful shots.
Missing the lake
The trees bring back childhood memories. After we returned to the States from Nigeria, I made a scene for a school project in my mothers shadow box, (which she used for painting still-lifes). I found some Yarrow plants which reminded me of those tall flat trees which I used to create my jungle. It’s been almost 50 years since I thought of those trees.
Great photos of Sheba! She seems to so love the water!
Hi am I able to use one of the pictures of Sheba in the water for our RR magazine
