The Sky of the Red Billed Hornbill

The red billed hornbill leads a fascinating life.

Enjoying the deep blue Nigerien sky, he looks first to his left,

…then to his right. All is well and life goes on as usual.

Nature’s Little Treasures

As were were out riding in the bush, we passed these lovely red bird nests hanging from the tree.

Shaped like perfect onions and of a red colour, they were different from those I normally notice. I had to ride up to them for a  closer view.

The Zinder bush is a great place to go birdwatching. Niger has more than 500 bird species coming through (many of them seasonal) and this is the time of the year to see them.

Seasonal Lake Skywatching

The rains have ended, but the Zinder bush still sports a green coat.

The seasonal lakes are filled with water, but these will dry during the months to come.

As you all know, the Zinder bush is one of my favourite places on earth,
