Finally, some pictures of Sheba’s puppies that started arriving this morning!

This was my father’s first whelping and they all did marvelously!

Although still so young, Sheba was a terrific mother and the puppies were so sweet!

The ordeal lasted the entire day and I had my dad on wireless skype for most parts.  It was amazing to be there and listen to everything as it happened live - even though I was 8000 km away.

I cannot even tell you how much I missed my little darling, wanting to be with her this very moment.

Seeing her tender snout as she watched over her newborns did not make me miss her any less!

One of my favourite pictures, with Sheba going: “Excuse me, but where are you going with my puppy?”

“Now that’s more like it!”

There were eleven puppies all in all, of which seven survived: three males and four females. Two of the stillborn had a lot of water in their lungs, but impossible to revive them. For Sheba’s sake however, I am glad that the litter is not too large.

The puppies were quite even in size (even the ones that didn’t make it), weighing between 315 and 480 grams.

By the end of the day, Sheba was very tired and when it was finally over, she lay down to rest.

Happy sleeping, Shebes! If only you knew how much I missed you!!
